The Essential CBD Guide for Beginners

If you are here it is probably because you have heard of CBD and wonder what it does and how it can help. CBD is newer to the market and there are a ton of questions about how to use it, what it can do, possible side effects, and more. If you are wondering about how CBD can help you or a loved one this is the guide for you. In this complete guide to CBD, we will go over everything you need to know about CBD and how to identify trustworthy, affordable, and reliable brands.

What is CBD?

To understand the benefits of CBD you first need to know what CBD is and how it’s created. CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is an active ingredient in hemp plants. CBD is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is the cousin to the marijuana plant.

Even though hemp and marijuana plants are close genetically, CBD doesn’t contain any THC. THC is the psychoactive component of marijuana that creates a ‘high’. Both THC and CBD have proven to have therapeutic effects however, CBD will not leave you feeling intoxicated or under the influence. That is because CBD and THC interact with the brain differently.

CBD has been a buzzy word around the natural wellness product community for a while now. CBD was actually discovered in 1940, but cannabis has been used around the world for thousands of years to aid in pain relief, better sleep, childbirth, and more.

It is also important to note that there are different types of CBD, full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. Full-spectrum CBD is when you take the whole help plant and create an oil or other products. This kind of CBD contains everything from the plant, including fibers, THC, terpenes, and more. Broad-spectrum CBD uses the entire plant but removes any THC. Lastly, CBD isolate is pure CBD; everything is taken out of the hemp plant except the CBD. Isolate is broken down into a powder and is the most consistent type of CBD. Broad and full-spectrum have many benefits, however since you are using the entire plant the consistency of the product goes down, because each plant has different amounts of THC, terpenes, and CBD.

Is CBD Safe?

With new products comes a whole host of questions. A shared question by many is…How safe is it to use CBD? It is only natural to wonder about the safety and efficacy of something before you decide to put it into your body.  We are here to assure you that Applied Botanics can offer you a safe and effective CBD experience.

Not all CBD oils (or brands) are made the same. Make sure you do your research on what is put into a brand’s CBD products, where they farm, if it’s THC-free, and check for any additives. Some brands take the plant and break it down to an oil (full spectrum), the issue with that is each plant is different with differing CBD and terpene concentrations. Cannabis Sativa plants are like snowflakes; none are exactly the same so your CBD may differ from bottle to bottle. At Applied Botanics we are the complete spectrum which means we strip down every component of the plant then add it back in to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Our CBD oils have been reconstructed with natural plant material that has been used for centuries. We then combine those materials with bio-enhanced non-GMO CBD grown on our controlled farmland to provide the very best ingredients. All of our products are backed by a team of Doctors and Scientists dedicated to studying CBD in a myriad of diverse medical trials.

We can’t speak for all of the products on the market, and it is always recommended that you consult with your doctor (especially if taking other medications) before beginning to use CBD, but we can assure you that at Applied Botanics we are committed to offering safe CBD products that you can feel comfortable and confident while using.

Consistency and transparency are very important to us. We guarantee our products are THC-free because we know exactly what is in them and our Certificate of Analysis (COA) proves that. All of our products are third-party tested in an ISO and DEA-certified accredited laboratory. Our products are not only tested for THC but heavy metals, pesticides, and solvents. How can CBD help?

Pain

CBD works with the endocannabinoid system to maintain homeostasis in the body. Your endocannabinoid system naturally produces cannabinoids that work as neurotransmitters or message carriers to send signals to the CB1 and CB2 receptors. When the body has an inflammatory response CBD may send signals to the brain to aid in pain management and reduce inflammation.

Our Recovery CBD Roll On has an industry-leading amount of CBD, and we’ve also added a proprietary blend of targeted terpenes that may help reduce inflammation and aid in pain relief. Two of the primary terpenes we’ve added include Alpha Pinene, which is anti-inflammatory and aids in pain relief, and Caryophyllene, which has properties in chronic pain relief. Last, we’ve also added 7% Menthol, to provide the cooling effect you expect from pain relief products.

CBD Pain Roll Ons, like ours, may help:

  • Arthritis pain
  • Muscle recovery
  • Muscle strains
  • Joint Pain
  • General soreness

Meet Brad. Brad struggles with back pain due to his job and previous back surgeries. He has also tried other CBD brands in the past with little success. However when he started using our Recovery product. “Your recovery helps with that plus my back pain. I’ve had 4 back surgeries including a fusion with rods and screws. Yours is the only CBD that I have used that helps with my pain and I can take it under the tongue or apply directly to the area of pain.”

Arthritis symptoms can range from mild to severe and look different for everyone. Some common symptoms include:

  • Joint pain
  • Stiffness
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Swelling

There are also different types of arthritis including, Degenerative Arthritis, Inflammatory Arthritis, and Metabolic Arthritis to name a few.

Sleep

Do you have trouble falling or staying asleep? If so, you are not alone. CDC data shows that 1 in 3 people do not get enough sleep. Getting a good night’s rest is essential to good health, and finding the solution to make that possible can be a challenge.

Tranquility is specifically designed to promote sleep and relaxation and may assist with insomnia and other sleep disorders. It combines pure Cannabidiol isolate with our patent-pending blend of highly targeted terpenes formulated specifically to assist with sleep disorders. Terpenes are the aromatic compound that is found in plants, namely cannabis. Linalool and myrcene are the most prevalent terpenes in this blend. Historically these compounds have been used to promote sedation.

Anxiety

If you find yourself struggling with anxiety, know that you are not alone. You and over 40 million adults in the United States are affected by some form of anxiety. The exact cause of anxiety has yet to be pinpointed. Researchers believe that it is a combination of factors including; environmental and genetic factors, as well as brain chemistry. There was a study conducted in 2015 to test CBD as a potential treatment for Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The results from this study showed that CBD interacted with several of the cannabinoid receptors in the brain that are responsible for regulating fear and anxiety. The team that conducted the study additionally found preclinical and clinical evidence that confirmed CBD as an effective treatment for various types of anxiety disorders. Some of the disorders that have been effectively treated with CBD are:

  • generalized anxiety disorder
  • post-traumatic stress disorder
  • panic disorder
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • social anxiety disorder

Because of the complexities and differences, finding an effective treatment plan can become a challenge. If you go the pharmaceutical route, finding the medication that works best for you often takes a trial and error phase. CBD could offer the relief that you have been looking for, without having to experiment with different prescription medications. Comfort CBD uses high-quality CBD isolate and terpenes to help calm and relax the body and mind.

Wellness

Many people have used CBD in order to get better sleep, alleviate pain, and more. CBD may help your body from the inside out. Additionally, CBD may be able to actually lower your blood pressure.

When your blood is pumped through blood vessels there is a certain amount of force that occurs. This is your blood pressure. When your blood pressure is high there is more force that is put on your blood vessels which may damage your blood vessels, veins, and arteries. High blood pressure or hypertension can lead to many problems including heart disease, heart attack, stroke, heart failure, aneurysm, and even dementia.

A recent study examined the relationship between high blood pressure and CBD. Nine healthy men were given either 600mg of CBD or a placebo and then different stress tests were conducted to examine blood pressure throughout the study.

All stress tests elevated the subject’s heart rate and blood pressure. Only CBD patients reacted positively to the stress tests after they were conducted (in the recovery stage). CBD patients showed a natural decrease in blood pressure and their blood pressure stayed lower than the placebo subjects.

How to use CBD and CBD Dosing

Our product comes with a marked dropper to easily dispense your appropriate dose. Once you have determined what dose is the best fit for you, fill the dropper, place the oil under your tongue and hold for around 30-60 seconds before swallowing. Our advanced product formulation offers a pleasant taste to guarantee a quality experience from start to finish.

Allowing the product to absorb under your tongue before swallowing, provides the quickest absorption through the lingual artery in the mouth and into the bloodstream. This method delivers quicker and more noticeable results. Some oil will still have to pass through the digestive system before ending up in the bloodstream.

It is important to avoid contact with the interior and exterior of your mouth to keep the dropper clean. If you do make contact with your mouth, we recommend cleaning the dropper with an alcohol swab to avoid any bacteria coming into contact with the oil.

Recommendations can vary depending on which product you are using and the issues you’re looking to alleviate, we recommend the following as a general guideline for first-time use.

  1. Withdraw a .50ml (½ dropper) of CBD oil and take on a recurring, daily schedule.
  2. Place the CBD dropper underneath your tongue and release oil from the dropper.
  3. After 30 minutes, evaluate your physical well-being. If the CBD oil is showing an effect to your current state, remain at .50ml dose.
  4. If not, increase your next dosage to .75ml and 1ml, and continue to monitor how much CBD oil is necessary to alleviate issues.

If you consider yourself to be sensitive to supplements, drugs, food, or over-the-counter medications, you may want to begin with an ultra-low dose of .25ML.

It is recommended with any CBD wellness product,  that you use them regularly and consistently in order to maximize the effects. You may not necessarily feel the effects immediately following your first use, it could take some time to find your optimal dose and achieve the desired outcome.

Our Promise

Applied Botanics has put the customer first, focusing on these important factors:

  1. Taste. Our products have an enjoyable taste (which has provided us higher levels of customer success), as we’ve eliminated the plant matter, focusing on the aromatic qualities of our targeted terpenes to eliminate the offensive taste that many CBD products often have.
  1. Consistency. No matter what the product is, customers demand a consistent product time after time. We have put forth significant investment to deliver on this promise, as we guarantee that drop after drop, bottle after bottle, that our product will be the same (and provide the same benefits) dose after dose.  To our knowledge, there are no other companies with CBD products on the market that can and will guarantee you that. Applied Botanics products are manufactured and processed with pharmaceutical grade equipment, so you can have confidence that the product you take today will be the same, consistent product you take tomorrow. 3. Price. Let’s be clear, CBD products on the market today aren’t cheap. We will continue to find ways in which to keep our current pricing fair. Due to our business operation being fully vertical, “seed to shelf”, we own and control every operational step that goes into growing, manufacturing, and selling our product. This has allowed us to price our products below market averages, with the highest levels of CBD, and at the lowest price per CBD mg ($.05) when compared to leading brands.
